Importance to Career
In the United States of America, the population of Spanish speakers is rapidly increasing turning Spanish into the top spoken language besides English. In a health-related career, it is important to speak more than one language, such as Spanish, to properly translate for non-English speakers in need of medical care. In the early 2000s, my family whose primary language is Spanish were scared to seek for medical health, because they felt that no doctor was going to understand their medical issue. For many people, it's not an issue anymore, but there are thousands of Spanish families seeking for medical health every day, but there are very few Spanish speaking doctors.
