Caring

Caring about people, about things, about lifeis an act of maturity

- Tracy McMillan

When someone is showing empathy, compassion, and respect towards the needs and feelings of others, they have a personal commitment to service. In the summer of 2018, I was enrolled in a nursing assistant class at Quality Healthcare Options. In order to complete the class, clinical's at another facility was required.

The picture showing the Lutheran Home building represents the site of my clinical's. The picture showing the Aurora West Allis Medical Center represents the location I am currently working in as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  The picture showing the elderly patients represents the fact that in both facilities I was working with elderly patients and assisting their everyday needs. I assisted patients with care because elderly patients need more love to feel secure and less scared facing their current medical situation. In addition,  I walked into patients rooms every 15 minutes to check up on them and to see if they needed any help. When they did, I was patient and did the task with care. If we were to take the patients position, a great nursing assistant will consist of great caring patient care.

Being caring shows a positive interaction and experience with others. It builds trust, positive/good feeling, a sense of accomplishment, and most important building strong relationships. Currently, it has helped me through high school, because I am able to build and create stronger relationships with students at my school and improve the friendly environment by making everyone fit in and avoid for someone to have the feeling of being left out. In my freshman year, a classmate of mine was involved in a motorcycle crash. The crash impacted and changed her life, because she had a brain injury, causing her to no longer remember her daily life activity. Since she did not remember where the bathrooms were located in the school building, I took the time to take her and show her around. This helped her feel loved and cared by her school envrionment.
